Minecraft 1.20.1 remains one of the most widely used versions for modpacks, so it is also one of the most common places to see Player animation mod Minecraft 1.20.1 searches. The project lists builds for the 1.20 to 1.20.1 range, which means you can run it on 1.20.1 as long as you choose the file for your loader.
Why 1.20.1 needs a matching build
Player Animation Mod changes how the player model is posed while it renders. That code hooks into game internals that change between Minecraft versions. A file compiled for 1.20.1 knows how 1.20.1 is structured. Loading it on a different version usually fails at startup.
Choosing a loader on 1.20.1
| Your profile uses | Pick |
|---|---|
| Forge 1.20.1 | The Forge build for 1.20.1 |
| Fabric 1.20.1 | The Fabric build for 1.20.1 |
| Quilt 1.20.1 | The Fabric build (Quilt loads most Fabric mods) |
| NeoForge | NeoForge builds are generally used on newer versions; check the file list |
If you are on Forge, our dedicated Player Animation Mod 1.20.1 Forge guide covers each step.
Installing on Minecraft 1.20.1
- Install your loader for 1.20.1 and run it once so it creates its folders.
- Download the 1.20.1 library build for that loader.
- Place the
.jarfile in themodsfolder of that profile. - Add the mod that depends on the library, making sure it is also a 1.20.1 build.
- Launch the game and confirm the dependent mod's animations play.
On Fabric, the library may also use bendy-lib to bend arms and legs in the middle. It is optional. Install it only if the mod you are using asks for it.
Playing on a 1.20.1 server
The project lists both client and server environments. If a server runs a mod that depends on the library, the library should be on the server as well as on each player's client, in matching versions. A mismatch is one of the most common reasons players get disconnected or see animations fail.
Common 1.20.1 issues
- "Mod requires playerAnimator": the library is missing or is the wrong loader build.
- Crash at startup: a non-1.20.1 file is in the folder, or two copies of the library are present.
- No visible change: expected. The library only runs animations that other mods provide.
